Britannia Rooflight Shield is a clear glaze designed to re-coat aged and refurbished GRP translucent rooflights. The Flexible elastomeric system is ready for use on most common building products including concrete, glass and GRP.
LONG-LASTING REPAIR - Our high-quality solvent-based solution is engineered for general maintenance work, making it the ideal choice for rooflights. A flexible and highly elastic system with excellent adhesion to GRP surfaces.
EASY TO USE - Britannia Rooflight Shield can be easily applied using a brush or solvent resistant roller for a fast application without disruption to internal activities. For best results apply 2 coats leaving 2-3 hours in between coats and allow the final coat to fully cure.
Application Details
Preparation
- DO NOT USE ON ROOFLIGHTS WHICH ARE PERISHED BEYOND STRUCTURAL SAFETY. THESE SHOULD BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW.
- Clear all areas of moss, lichen and debris by brushing or power washing and remove surface water and any contamination such as Oil or Grease and allow to dry.
- Apply Britannia Fungicidal Wash to prevent further fungal/algal growth.
- STIR WELL BEFORE USE
- DO NOT THIN
- Most surfaces do not require priming. Adhesion tests should be carried out on non-standard substrates. If necessary, prime with Britannia Universal QD Primer & Sealer.
- Note: Do not at any time clean the surface with soap detergent. This action would leave a residual film and may adverse affect adhesion.
- Before the application of Britannia products, ensure all surfaces to be treated are dry.
Application
- Rooflight Shield is supplied ready for use and does not require thinning. The introduction of additional thinning will invalidate the material guarantee.
- Ensure the surface is clean and dry prior to application. Pay particular attention to the rooflight overlap detail which may be holding trapped water.
- Application air temperature must be above 3oC.
- Application surface temperature must be above 2oC above dew point.
- Apply using a brush or solvent resistant roller at a minimum spreading rate of 4m2/litre at a wet film thickness of 166 microns.
- Allow the first coat to cure to a tack.
- 2 coats required.
