NEW POLYSHIELD WATERPROOFS ROOF OF RADISSON PARK INN, ST HELENS

New Polyshield has been chosen to waterproof the flat roof of the Park Inn, St Helens, a Radisson hotel.

The 1000 sq m roof had been patched up over the years by various contractors using an array of substrates, none of

them satisfactory.

Asphalt was cracking, a large area had been felted but now the felt was peeling, other areas were deteriorating rapidly.

Polyshield’s one-coat protection was chosen in preference to other systems after a detailed submission by Britannia’s Technical Department.

A single coat was applied to all areas, providing a tough, flexible, highly elastic waterproof coating with excellent UV properties and resistance to substrate movement. No primer was necessary.

The result – a failing roof was quickly turned into a watertight structure with a 10-year lifetime.

Principal contractor was Proshield.

Polyshield rubber-based waterproofing topcoat is a seamless coating developed by Britannia for larger roof areas where longer life expectancy is needed.
