BRITANNIA PLAYS KEY ROLE IN RECENTLY FORMED ELWA TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
The recently-formed ELWA Technical Committee for Roofing and Balconies represents an important step in the use of Liquid Applied Waterproofing Systems.
Britainnia’s David Johnstone played a significant role in the formation of the Committee and is now
its Acting Chairman.
The Committee, made up of volunteer ELWA members, has a wide and varied remit. Initially it will concentrate on providing users of Liquid Applied Waterproofing Systems with the best possible technical guidance. It will also ensure that the best interests of ELWA members are served at a national and European level (and perhaps ultimately internationally).
The Committee’s first task will be to address the existing ELWA waterproofing guidance notes and update them to include reference to balcony systems. At the same time it will bring the notes in line with current legislation. In addition, the Committee will set about building relationships with other UK and European organisations playing a part in the development and review of relevant Standards.
David Johnstone comments: “The Committee has been given a vital job. All of us are totally committed to ensuring that users benefit from first-class technical guidance, which in turn will make a strong statement about the professionalism and integrity of
ELWA members.”
The Committee will meet quarterly. Regular reports will be sent to ELWA members, with updates posted
on the ELWA website.
