DAMP PROOF PAINT

Damp proof paint is a specially formulated coating that is used to treat or
prevent damp interior wall surfaces. It can be used either as a primer or a
sealer on surfaces such as concrete, plaster, brick or cement. This damp
proofing paint cannot be used on breeze blocks.
This white matt coating consists of a solvent based pliolite resin. It is
available in 5 litre containers. You will be able to cover Up to 4 Square
metres per litre but you must make sure it is not overspread.
Using damp proof paint should not be used as an alternative to repairing the
underlying cause of the damp. Investigations into damp areas should always be
carried out.
You can apply the paint evenly using a brush or airless spray. It is dry within
2-3 hours and you are able to re-apply within 16-24 hours.
It is advisable to use the paint on unpainted masonry surfaces. If the area has
already been painted you should make sure as much of the old paint is removed
as possible. In the event that mould or lichen is present you must treat the
affected area with a fungicidal wash and remove with a stiff brush or scrapper.
If you are treating pre 1960's surfaces you will need to take extra precautions
to ensure there is no harmful lead present.
If you are sanding the area prior to painting you must wear a suitable face mask
to avoid dust inhalation.
